Hotel Residence Esplanade

Fine hotel but access has many steps to enter. We had a modern room but it could have been bigger for the two of us. We paid extra for a balcony but unfortunately it led onto an internal garden area that produced flying insects and we subsequently never used the balcony. Food was lovely the staff and waiter service was very good. The hotel had a fine selection of well maintained bicycles for hire and the whole town is perfect for using them. They have a deal with a beach establishment for your own umbrella chairs and sunbeds. A several local buses pass the hotel and you can take one all the way to Pisa and up north for other towns. Purchase tickets at tobacco shops in advance at cut prices. Taxi from hotel to train station is 18 euros. Train to Florence takes minimum of 1 and half hours Check timetables. This is a fine hotel

We recently stayed here as a family of three. The room was excellent, bigger than we expected. The staff were delightful. Everyone made an effort to speak to us in English and we made an effort to reply in Italian (we can safely say their English was far more impressive than our Italian). The service was excellent overall. Breakfast was not the best we had, albeit again the service was very good. Perhaps considering increasing the hot offering would be a worth a thought. However, the pastries were excellent. Finally, the shower was a bit tired and didn’t seem to have been refurbed with the rest of the otherwise excellent room. Thank you for the welcome, especially when we were travelling with a 2 year old. If we are in the city again, we will certainly stay with you.

Every year I spend my summer holidays in Viareggio, and every year I book Esplanade because they have large rooms (larger than other offers), quiet location (not too central, but very beautiful) beach included in the price, one set of beach towels included (extra for changing them), and amazing restaurant. Entire building is very well air conditioned (except the lift). Great reception, good breakfast, and very good cleaning services. Best value for money, therefore highly recommended. Hope they have some offers when booking in advance. For the cons: 1. WiFi could be better, dropping too often 2. Breakfast could have more variety 3. Sometimes vanity kit was not topped up Tip: use official website to book to get best offers and prices

Very nice hotel! Great location just on the corner of the boulevard. The room was way larger than expected (we had a room including a small kitchen). The windows all had blinds which made sleeping very comfortable. Also the beds were nice and the bathroom was OK, although the shower itself was not that big. The staff was very friendly!

This is a nice hotel in an excellent location (a few steps & you're on the boardwalk & on the beach) but where they are lacking is service. Our check in was ok but the man forgot to tell us the wi-fi network & password, so we had to make a trip downstairs to get it since staff wasn't answering the phone, & then he also forgot to tell us when/where breakfast would be served (another trip downstairs). What's worse-- breakfast the next day was terrible. We sat for 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us -- I eventually went & grabbed menus. 5 minutes later the waitress came over & was very unfriendly & didn't apologize for the 15-minute wait. Our food finally came & it was dry & stale -- old croissants, eggs that had clearly been sitting around & weren't fresh at all (see photo!). I ordered a cappuccino that never came & I finally gave up & left. In times of Covid with few guests how can you mess up on service so badly?? I will say, our room was nice, very spacious with a lovely sitting room adjoining the bedroom. However, I would not choose to stay here again, too many service issues.

Hotel with a good location right near the beach, that it's for the positive points... I never had a quality/price balance so bad. It is definitely not a 4 star hotel even truly far from it. The wifi is not working in the room, the room was tidy but not clean, the mattress was really hard, the bedroom shutter was broken and stuck in the middle so wake up at 6 am, the bathroom sink was clogged. Room with simple glazing we heard all the noise from "the secret garden", the furniture were old and locally damaged not a nice tidy room as shown on the pictures. I did not recommand to stay here, to avoid at any price!

Great hotel in good location at quiet end of the seafront - friendly staff were very helpful and pretty efficient- rooms a tad small but were ample for a comfortable stay - food at dinner was of a high standard but if the hotel was to make an improvement it would be on their breakfasts - they really arent good - scrambled egg that sits in a heating tray all morning and bacon that is not well cooked - some morning there was no orange juice - only small details I know but not good when customers want cooked breakie- having said that we enjoyed our stay there very much
